3/30/2016 5 Comments High School Memories: PromIf you live in any city, you have probably already seen the student posters advertising one monumental event: prom. The one magical night in a person's high school career where the transition from childhood to adult happens (or so, we are made to believe). The time has come where young girls start preparing for such a night by going out and purchasing the latest issue of Prom Magazine and Teen Vogue. Celebrity Instagram accounts become sources of inspiration for the perfect dress and makeup tutorials become even more searched online. And questions such as, "smokey eye with a long dress, or simple winged liner with a short dress," "what shoes would go best with either outfit? Do I even worry about the shoes if the dress is long," start to take precedence over remembering what the quadratic formula is.
![]() Prom is just one of those memories that seems to linger around in your head indefinitely. It's a night filled with all sorts of magic. From dancing to your favorite song with friends, or slow dancing with your date, even keeping an eye out for chaperones so that your best friends' scheme to crash prom goes on without a glitch. We are told by countless movies that prom is the climax of our teenage years, but so many things happen before the evening starts that count also. Sometimes it's not even the actual prom that we remember, but rather all the little memories that happen before. Like, getting ready; listening to Drake's Fancy as you curl your hair, or going out to dinner with friends and taking the most selfies possible. It's an evening of playing dress up with friends, and as Keith Habersberger from The Try Guys says, "it's nice to experience a little bit of fancy now and then." We couldn't agree more! "It's nice to experience a little bit of fancy now and then." As the days lead up to the big day we understand how stressful it can be to pick the perfect dress, match the heels and prepare to glam up accordingly. Last year we had the incredible privilege to take on the work that leads up to the event and coordinate a Pre-Prom Soiree for a very special diva. Forget a small dinner with friends, we put together a whole event for young Morgan, her date and their friends. She had everything from her own celebrity glam squad, to a Rolls Royce as her personal carriage. No detail was too small.
Whether you're going stag with friends, or with a date, prom is a special event in a teenager's life, and we hope everyone's prom day is as radiant as the young women and men who go are dressed!

3/7/2016 3 Comments 5 Reasons We Love Spring! It seems the warm weather has eluded us again. Then again, we are still technically in winter, so the sun has just been teasing us with its rays. Oh, spring, how we await your arrival. Blossoms of all sorts have already made an appearance on some trees, and they are adorned by bees buzzing around and hummingbirds flying close by. Spring, or "Pre-Summer" as we like to call it, brings so many of our favorite things. Here are our top five reasons why we love spring! 1. Out With the Old, In With the New They don't call it "spring cleaning" for nothing. It's time to store away, give away or sell away your winter clothing and bring back short sleeves and floral dresses. Just remember to keep a light sweater on hand, just in case. 2. Spring is Berry Delicious Just before we thought spring couldn't get any better, we realized it's almost berry season! We can already taste the small mountain loads of blueberries, and don't get us started on raspberries. Placing those sweet little crowns on our finger tips is a small kind of happiness. Add tiny color hues to your next event by incorporating all the delicious spring berries! 3. Floral Season Driving around the mountainside, we came around a cherry farm and we were in awe by the beautiful cherry blossoms being born from their trees. Voluminous amounts of pinks surrounding the cherry farm, made us appreciate these little wonders after having been in winter's embrace for so long. Add a floral charm to your next outfit by incorporating a flower crown. You can never go wrong with a flower crown. 4. Outdoor Festivities! Winter may have made us resort to staying inside, but spring is finally allowing us to strut out of our indoor confines, and seek some fresh air. Just put up some twinkling lights outside, and enjoy some rooftop drinks with friends and family, or venture to the beach or lake. Hooray for warm weather at last! 5. New Season, New You
If you didn't participate in the "New Year, New Me" fandom, maybe you'll decide to take on the "New Season, New Me" ideology. Whether you prefer long layered locks, or the whimsy of a pixie cut, spring brings with it an opportunity to try something new. Regardless, running your fingers through your freshly cut hair is another small kind of happiness. Get ready to pucker up, everyone, because Valentine's Day is looming. Of course, this is something you have probably noticed as you made your way into your local Walgreens or CVS; the stacks of chocolates and abundance of plush bears. Yes, the season for cuddly toys and delicious truffles, yum! But let's save the last-minute chocolate buying for another day, and focus on something more romantic. We've only just entered February, so if you still haven't figured out your plans for such a romantic day, do not fret, this is what this blog is for. Romance shouldn't just be thought of for one day of the year. No, no, no, a little bit of romance can be sprinkled over anything. Your partner coming home late? Set up a trail of Post-It notes throughout the house, and create a charming maze with a surprise of your choosing at the end. You never know what a turkey sandwich filled with some of your partner's favorite chips can say after a busy day. But Valentine's Day requires a tiny bit more than just a trail of Post-It notes and a sandwich. 1. Beach While it is still chilly out, a walk on the beach and watching the sunset is always something to behold. Just make sure to bundle up warm and keep your eyes to the horizon. And when the sun does get folded over by the waves, look to the sky and take in the pink and purple hues of the sky. It's magic. 2. Dinner Now, we would have suggested a beautiful dinner on the beach, but considering it is still winter, we wouldn't want anyone to get sick. But how about a romantic dinner at home, maybe by candlelight? Christmas has come and gone, but there will always come a time where twinkling lights come in handy. 3. Flowers Nothing says "Happy Valentine's Day" and romance like red roses, but there are hundreds of other beautiful flowers that can be used for such an occasion. Whether it's a single flower or a whole bouquet, flowers are a beautiful sentiment to give to your significant other. That or, add them to the table as a delicate decoration, or pull a Kanye and have a flower wall delivered. It's really up to you, so have fun! 4. The Gift Seeing as how Christmas was just a few months ago, we understand that gift-giving can seem slightly redundant, so consider putting together a DIY gift. A mixtape (CD?), maybe? Something that really maps your relationship and time together, that only you could give to each other. When in doubt, New York is always a good idea, or maybe, Paris? Valentine's Day is on a Sunday this year, what a better way to spend time with one another than by going on a trip together. A drive down the coast, a flight to a beautiful city. Flying through the clouds and seeing the city lights approach from up above is a feeling like no other.
New Year's Eve is right around the corner ready to knock on your door, and the question lingers, do you have your New Year's resolutions in order? Call them what you like, resolutions or goals, these are things we put time in to decide how we would like our lives to be changed for the incoming 52 weeks. No pressure. However, this is a certain pressure that comes with deciding life-changing habits. Going to the gym is probably at the top of the list for many, but what about some other ones? We've been thinking about many of ours, and here are a few we've decided to share with you all. 1. Self-Love It sounds cheesy, but it's necessary. Self-love looks and feels differently to many people, and it encompasses different things. Whether it's taking the time to de-stress from a busy work week by unplugging yourself from the web and taking a walk on the beach, feeding that feeling of inspiration within each of us is incredibly beneficial to living a healthy life. 2. Travel More And this doesn't have to be to other country-- although that is never a bad idea. Traveling more can simply mean taking the time to explore your own surrounding and visiting places you've always put a mental note on. 3. Trying New Things Speaking of visiting new places, trying new things from those places can be life-altering also. Don't keep your mind closed from new and exiting opportunities simply because it doesn't look like what you're used to. Step out of your bubble and experience something new. You never know, you might like it. And if not, at least now you've tried it. 4. Make Time For Those Who Matter Most Whether it's your friends or family, taking the time to spend quality time with your loved ones is never time wasted. Ask relatives about stories from when they were growing up, learn new things about the people who raised you, and made you the person that you are today. 5. Pick Up a Positive Habit While I have yet to decide on what this habit will be, picking up a good habit like photography, cooking, yoga, reading a book, or writing in a journal, are all positive outlets for keeping busy, and de-stressing. DIY tutorials on a million different things are available on the internet, why not browse a few? Have a little extra time? Pick up a pen and become your own author. All five of these resolutions are tied together by the saying, "you don't know what you don't know," something that we can all relate to. Whether it's trying new foods, picking up a hobby, or hearing a funny family story, there will always be things we do not know, so why not shed some light on a few things in 2016?
From everyone at Divine Diva Events, we hope you have a safe and fabulous New Year's Eve and an even better New Year. We look forward to what 2016 brings! 11/30/2015 2 Comments DDE: Countdown to ChristmasThe time has come, everyone. That time being the countdown to Christmas has arrived! Yes, with November coming to a close, and Fall holidays like Halloween and Thanksigivng finally out of the way (sorry, Fall holidays), it is now the time to prepare ourselves to welcome in the magic and fantasy that is Christmas. And oh boy, are we excited! It is now socially acceptable to play all the Christmas music you want, so Christmas fanatics, play on! No longer will you have to adhere to the constant bellowing sounds of "it's too early to play Christmas music," or "you need to chill, it's only September." You can now live your best, cheer-filled and merry life. Online music sources like Pandora and Spotify have specialized playlists to feed your Christmas music needs. Everything from "Classic Christmas," to "Pop Christmas," to "Hip Hop" Christmas. You'll no longer have to choose between having a Winter Wonderland, or a Ludacrismas, because you can have both! Christmas brings a variety of themed parties. It all depends on your personality. Are you more of a traditionalist, or do you prefer something with more whimsy? Ugly Christmas Sweater parties have become more prevalent during this holiday season, but there are always more, just let your creativity soar! Talking about Christmas so much makes us want to binge on every Christmas movie (or at least the ones Netflix has online) and make all of the hot chocolate in the world. If you wouldn't dare have an ugly sweater party and you're looking to host a more traditional holiday themed party, we've scoured our images and the web for inspiration. Here are three themes and decor ideas that have us filled with holiday cheer! 1. Baby It's Cold Outside With Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" playing in the background, your home will transform into a winter wonderland of snow and Christmas magic. 2. Gingerbread House Party Unleash your inner child this year and build your own gingerbread house with friends and family! Will your house have a garden? Better yet, how many rooms and baths will it have? Also, will there be a special house for the reindeer? Will your mailbox be a gum drop, or be made of gingerbread? 3. It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas
This theme by Good Housekeeping has us feeling especially cozy. Is it the Christmas red all around the room? Maybe it's knowing that Santa Claus is nearby. Whatever the reason, this theme will surely spark some fuzzy feelings amongst your guests. 10/31/2015 0 Comments Spooky Good Halloween TreatsFall isn't just the time for Pumpkin Spice Lattes and scarf weather, it's also the best season to conjure up some deliciously spooky treats. Engagement photos are always so much fun. You get to pick different themes, have different outfits, pose in so many different ways, and at the end of the shoot you get to pick your favorite photos. It's a perfect pre-wedding glamour day with your beau, and who can say no to a little glamour? One of our favorite engagement photo themes has to be when the couple is able channel their alma mater; it's almost as if they're going back in time to where the magic all started. In some cases, a couple's relationship blossomed out of being in Greek organizations, so for this blog, we have collected our top ten favorite couples who absolutely nailed their "Greek Love" engagement photos! 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 9/8/2015 2 Comments Wedding FoodiesThe other evening, after a night of good music, drinks and lovely company, some friends and I proceeded to a local pizza parlor for delicious late-night carb-loaded snacks. As we sat down to eat our delicious pesto and cheese pizza slices, we had the opportunity to see a bride, groom and some of her wedding party members come into the establishment and order slices for themselves. This being said, the bride was fully dressed in her white wedding gown, with only her groom's cream colored coat to cover her shoulders. The bridesmaids were also still dressed in their bridesmaid dresses and the groomsmen in their suit and bowties. It was a sort of spectacle to observe, but it makes sense. They're people also, and like most people who have just finished an exhausting day's worth of glamour, glitz and smiles, they too would seek out refueling. What better than the only open pizza place downtown whose slices are also the best ones you'll find in the city? This got me thinking about late night snack options for events, especially when the hours slowly start creeping upon us. However, with party events where drinks are served, going to a different location is not always ideal; too many people, too many drinks, it can get become a bit of a mess for the bride and groom. So, why not bring the late-night munchies to the guests? Food trucks immediately seemed like the perfect fix! Not only can they come to you, but food trucks have the ability to serve a large number of people at an impressive rate. But what kind, and how many? So many questions! So we took to the internet and researched possible answers for you who might be interested in late-night food options. Electric Sliders California sunsets and In-N-Out have a lot in common. Aside from both being on the West coast, they're both also like nothing you've ever experienced in your life. Your guests will swoon so hard, they'll melt just as hard as the cheese that's on their burgers when they see the iconic arrow and bold red letters come their way. Sweet Tooth Bridal Say it slowly, and like you want it more than anything else. Donuts. Just biting into one of these savory morsels makes you feel all sorts of things, guilt being one of those feelings, but we don't listen to that feeling because 'deliciously satisfied' is much more potent. Just ask your taste buds as your mouth begins to water upon smelling these sugary delights. Your guests will forever love you. Maybe take it up a notch by offering caramel filled churros, or vanilla, or maybe even chocolate. The world is your oyster--erm, churro. Donut? Everything! (#BRB we're going to go get one-- or a dozen). Icy Delight Someone call Idina Menzel because it just got Frozen over here. Delicious and refreshing, your guests are sure to be singing "Let It Go" by the end of the night, because "the cold never bothered them anyway." Tacos. One word, like Madonna. These babies need no introduction as they are the epitome of delicious and mouth-watering (sorry, donuts, but Tacos > Donuts). Easy to eat and filling, this late night option needs no introduction. Tacos are always an option. Always. There are so many options for late night snacks. What would you have as an option for your guests? Thai curry? Korean BBQ? Oh, the options! We're excited, can you tell?
7/31/2015 1 Comment Pre-Prom Soiree: Celebrate Morgan!![]() All that glitters was definitely gold for this young Diva. Now, you have heard of MTV's Sweet Sixteen, but we have taken it up another level, away from birthdays, and focused on one young woman's pre-prom party. We spared no expense for Morgan as we incorporated all of her favorite things into this event. That means the fusion of stilettos, sparkle and tacos all in one event. Yes, we said tacos! And with Khloe Kardashian's 2015 Golden Globes look, we of course had to make it as glamorous as possible.
![]() With the help of celebrity make-up artist, Dee Dee Kelly, celebrity stylist, Kyle Alexander and celebrity hair dresser, DaRico Jackson, Morgan was able to have her own glam squad and live the life of a celebrity. So how was it? "I was really excited. The whole getting ready and getting pampered and stuff." The theme of the pre-prom party was "Celebrate Morgan," and celebrated she certainly was. From morning until afternoon, Morgan was pampered from head to toe. "Getting everything done at the same time, in the same room... and staying still" took a bit of getting used to, but with her experienced glam squad, getting used to this fabulous life was no problem.
Needless to say that with some applaud-worthy help from our friends, Morgan's Prom soiree was a hit, all that was needed were the paparazzi-- oh wait, she definitely had those. With more than 225 people in attendance, this glamorous Diva was able to make a grand entrance to the pre-prom party and exit. Did we mention she's only in high school? Morgan has many more years of slaying to do, four of which will be spent at Howard University in Washington D.C. starting in the Fall. So when asked if she's ready for this upcoming transition she was quick to say, "I'm ready to go!" And how could she not be ready when she has a strong support system that includes her friends, grandmother, grandfather, aunts, uncles, and above else, her mother, The Divine Diva herself. When we asked Morgan who she looked up to the most she gave us the most heartfelt response, "I know what my mom has been through and I've heard stories... and she's someone that I admire." Congratulations, Morgan! VENDORS
Back in late May, Buzzfeed released an article on the beauty of the Floral Afro by Offbeat Bride. Needless to say we fell in love with these astoundingly beautiful hairstyles. Let these be inspiration for your summer wedding 'do's! From then on, we searched for more popular floral hairstyles that would be great for a wedding under the sun and we've compiled our top five favorites! The Floral Afro. Solange Knowles rocked the delicate touch of baby's breath in her hair earlier this year for her wedding to Alan Ferguson, and inspired this awesome hairstyle creation to kick up your hair game. The Spanish Chignon Dolce & Gabbana looked to Spanish culture for their Spring/Summer fashion show hairstyles this year and brought forth beautiful creations. With fresh flowers and crowns, these hairstyles quickly became one of our top favorites. Orchids, galore! Selena Gomez looked ravishing in her Vera Wang gown, and even more eye-grabbing, orchid up-do at this year's Met Gala. When in doubt, put a fern on it. For a more boho-chic look, look no further than ferns and other greens. A simple look, but they can make for a charming addition to any hairstyle. Short hair, don't care? Long hair, don't care? You're sure to look FLAWLESS in any hairstyle.
