It’s not surprising that at their wedding ceremony Raymond Isaac Paul Bailey Sr. and his bride Deidre Nicole Woody chose to release doves to symbolize the evolution of their relationship. It’s a lesson we have all come to learn at one point or another in our lives: if you love something, let it go; if it comes back to you, it’s yours forever. The couple embodies this lesson perfectly. They dated earlier in life and had a son, but the couple parted ways and moved on with their individual lives. They let each other go, yet were drawn back together and realized that they were soul mates. As individuals they have grew, and as a couple and family they continue to flourish. Their wedding ceremony symbolized a long awaited celebration of their evolution. Having been heavily influenced by the glamorous and elegant world of Old Hollywood, the couple chose to have a romantic wedding in Los Angeles at the Sunset Plaza House, a mansion overlooking Sunset Boulevard. A deeply spiritual family, they were united in a Christian ceremony at sunset. The doves not only represented their love story but also the family members who could not be present as they have passed on, the groom’s sister and the bride’s father. They honored their family, and then they celebrated with their family, friends and three sons over an elegant dinner, followed by music and dancing. They chose a robust color palette of pink, black, gold, turquoise and silver. The décor emulated their Old Hollywood Glamour with feathers, flowers and touches of crystal. Their union symbolized everything beautiful in the life that they have shared, including the celebration of best friends, soul mates, adventure, passion and family. It is because these two individuals are so perfect for each other that the quote that inspired the ceremony was: “I love you not for who you are today, but for whom we will become together.” Both the bride and groom share a love for each other that runs deep. Having faced life on their own, and now together, it is their capacity for love and their strength that will keep them together for years to come.
